The Lovewell Center is a membership based resource center that gives members the opportunity to earn the physical resources they need by attending classes and programs designed to help them move out of poverty and homelessness and into a restored life. Earned credits can be used in The Lovewell stores: The Dresswell clothing store, The Smellwell laundromat, The Eatwell food store and The Stylewell hair salon.
Herman’s Story / The Lovewell Center
When you serve in The Eatwell, you will be volunteering as a “cashier” by helping us open and operate the food pantry and help Lovewell Members check out as they use their earned points to “pay” for their groceries. This opportunity is every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1-2 pm.
Every Wednesday morning, we open up early to cook a hot meals for our Lovewell Members! We have spots available for individuals, families, and small groups to help us cook and serve the breakfast and hang out with members. This opportunity is from 8:45 – 10 am.
At Community Meal, we ask our “volunteers” to come hungry so they can eat with us! We slow our pace and worry about putting tin foil on the leftovers later so we can spend more time together. There are no “servers” – just people joining us to share a meal. You will help us prep plates, play bingo with members, and help clean up. This opportunity is great for families of all sizes/ages, as well as groups. You can also sign up to provide the meal if you’re interested!
We are fortunate to have amazing donors and volunteers who donate their clothes and household items to us to put in The Dresswell. By signing up for Sortwell, you will be volunteering by helping us sort, organize, and restock donations to put in the Dresswell! This opportunity is every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1-2 pm and 3-4 pm.
When you serve in The Dresswell (the Lovewell’s resale store), you will be volunteering as a cashier, helping open and operate the store, and tidying up after members are done shopping! This opportunity is every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday from 1:30-2:30 pm.
As a VIP Club Ally, you would be offering a VIP Member one-on-one friendship, spiritual guidance, discipleship, and encouragement to connect with a healthy Church community during their time in the VIP Club, a support network for Lovewell Members who have moved out of homelessness into stable housing!
As a Lovewell Teacher, you would be committing to one hour a weekday afternoon to teach at a class. This is a great opportunity for people who are willing to donate consistent time to help build a deeper fellowship with Lovewell Members and community.
Equip Training is a full day training that happens once a quarter and explains what we do, why we do it, and how you can get involved with us! This training is very in-depth and once you’ve completed it, you will be able to serve in more committed opportunities in Lovewell and Purchased like teaching or mentoring. However, if you just want to learn more about The Hub, this training is also for you!
